What it is
St. Joseph’s prides itself on being a ‘Professional Learning Community’ where we strive to ‘Ensure Learning For All’!
As a Professional Learning Community school we have adopted three key pillars to drive our work:
1. A Focus on Learning
2. A Collaborative Culture and Collective Responsibility
3. A Focus on Results
As a primary school we have a strong academic focus on English and Mathematics. English and Mathematics are taught using our St. Joseph’s Learning Cycle which focuses on four critical questions:
1. What is it we what our students to know and be able to do? (Curriculum)
2. How will we know if each student has learned? (Assessment)
3. How will we respond when some students do not learn? (Intervention)
4. How will we extend the learning for students who have demonstrated proficiency? (Extension)
The implementation of these questions is visible through the adjacent diagram.
